Rourke Van Dal

Rourke Van Dal

Bradford born urban artist Rourke VanDal works from his Leeds based gallery and studio space, drawing inspiration from the world around him and memories of the streets on which he grew up.
In a decade of Punk Rock, Skins, Doc Martins and skateboards, the concrete kingdom and rundown warehouses of 1970s West Yorkshire were Rourke Van Dal’s playground.

His fruitful collaboration with photographer Gavin Watson on the Skins series perfectly captured this and led to critical acclaim. Rourke produced paintings and collages in response to Watson’s celebrated portfolio of candid black and white photographs of The Wycombe Skins.
Among the best known works by Rourke VanDal are Last Bus Home, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Dog Pound and Jolly Boyz Outing.
