Alain Magallon
Alain Magallon – Born – Paris 1962
Alain’s paintings are mainly influenced by pop art and mystical themes. The figurative subjects are painted in oil and acrylic and are inspired by history past and present whose anachronistic and metaphorical symbols contrast with the graphic backgrounds that are painted in acrylic. They are often represented in static and devoted or illuminated poses.
The goal is to produce a duality or imbalance between the neoclassical frozen or theatrical pose of the models and the association of the matter and the colours; mysticism is replaced by narcissistic tendencies.
Sometimes the subject’s fascination with their own image tends to duplicate or multiply themselves like the proverbial Russian dolls.
In my abstract paintings I see an image and can immediately zoom in and paint part of a scenario where the absence of real imagery becomes abstract.
This series is inspired by parts of different metals, such as metallic on cars, or metal rails which are some of the reflective surface like chrome, platinum, aluminium, as well as silver.
